2005 Ford GT
It looked so gorgeous, a mass of bulging muscle struggling to contain that massive 5.4-litre, supercharged heart. It doesn’t look like a GT40 but it looks how a GT40 looks in your head. And it’s huge. Longer than a Volvo XC90 and as wide as a Hummer.
Camilo Pardo, the head of Ford’s “Living Legends” studio in early 2000, was the chief designer for GT and worked under the guidance of J Mays and Carroll Shelby to create this legend. The original car was introduced as a concept in 2002 North American car show in Detroit and was 3″ taller than the original GT40’s. The name GT43 was considered however the project was called Petunia by insiders.
Fun History aside, the car was completely designed from ground up to fulfill and regain the legendary performance of the past and its known Le Mans wins. The longitudinal rear mounted Modular 5.4 L V8 engine is an all-aluminum alloy engine with an Eaton 2300 Lysholm screw-type supercharger. It features a forged rotating assembly housed in an aluminum block designed specifically for this car. A must dry sump lubrication system is employed, hence allowing the engine to sit low inside the all aluminum frame. Also DOHC 4 valves per cylinder heads are a revision of the 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R cylinder heads (with slightly increased wall casting thickness in the exhaust port). Even thecamshafts was designed with unique specifications to provide more lift and duration than those found in the Shelby GT500’s. Power output is 550 hp at 6,500 rpm and 500 lb?ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. All this fitted with a traditional manual six speed making her a handful worthy of a any passionate driver. Car and Driver tested the GT in January of 2004 and recorded a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds.
We are proud to present this one of 2027 ever built, a true legend, all with confidence that will provide unparalleled joy of driving and positive investments for the collectors in heart.
